yesterdays surf mission

  • Sep. 10th, 2007 at 7:49 AM

yesterday was around the bay in a day, day. Laura drove us to westernport bay to check out the surf at point leo and crunchies, both were shitehouse, so we went down to rye, too straight, gunnamatta didnt look too nice either. Finished up in sorrento which in my opinon in always a poorly shaped wave, so no surf on the peninsula. It was hot and lovely day, and the dolphin spotting chances were high off portsea. So my devious mind turned over and i suggested a boat trip over to the other penisula. Laura see's right through me and knows its only cos there might be a wave over there, so we hop on board the ferry and cruise over to the bellarine penisula, no dolphins but the sun was shining hard. A cruise down to ocean grove and we are greeted by tiny 1 foot waves, by now i have written it off but chance a drive round to 13th beach, the hole is too big for my 10 foot mal, super hollow and about 4-5 foot, no good, but a little further down are some nice banks, 4 footish but nice long walls, i change and am in, there is noone but me for 100 yards in either direction, everyone is hitting the banks by the carpark and i have walked down, i have some of the best wave action ive had in a long time, laura snoozes in the car...
